Jeanmonnot in a class of her own in the sprint
After the men’s race, the women also had a sprint scheduled on the opening competition day of the World Cup in Hochfilzen. France’s Lou Jeanmonnot delivered a dominant performance, shooting clean and ultimately winning by 15.3 seconds ahead of Norway’s Maren Kirkeeide, who had one miss. Sweden’s Anna Magnusson, also faultless at the range, completed the podium (+16.1 sec).
For the Austrian team, 26-year-old Anna Juppe had reason to celebrate with a top-20 finish. The strong skier from Carinthia recorded just one miss and secured an impressive 18th place (+1:07.9 min). Anna Andexer, who also had to ski one penalty loop, picked up World Cup points as well, finishing 31st (+1:27.8 min). Lisa Hauser (+1:41.2 min / 3 misses) and Anna Gandler (+1:48.6 / 2 misses) placed 41st and 48th.
