Vittozzi Celebrates Emotional Victory in the Pursuit

The Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen came to an end today with the women’s pursuit race. In front of a crowd of 8,450 spectators, Lisa Vittozzi shone as brightly as the Tyrolean sun and claimed her first victory since returning from a long injury layoff, standing on the top step of the podium once again.
Starting the race in 14th place, the Italian delivered a sensational comeback with a flawless shooting performance and secured victory with a margin of 11.4 seconds over Sweden’s Anna Magnusson, who recorded one miss. Third place went to Norway’s Maren Kirkeeide, who finished 39.5 seconds back after three shooting errors.

The Austrian women finished outside the top positions. The best result for the home team was achieved by Tyrolean Anna Gandler, who placed 37th and earned World Cup points with two misses and a deficit of 2:39.6 minutes. Lisa Hauser (+3:03.2 min./5 misses) and Anna Andexer (+3:25.2 min./5 misses) finished 41st and 47th respectively, while Anna Juppe came in 50th, 3:40.4 minutes behind, with six misses.
